- The Maker Mask has been approved by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) for community use only, and not in a clinical setting. It has not been cleared, approved or certified by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), or any other regulatory agency as a surgical mask or respirator, and therefore may not provide the same level of barrier protection, fluid resistance, filtration, and/or infection control as an approved respiratory protective device.
- Individual users should sterilize each Maker Mask before each use and need to change the filter on a regular basis, carefully disposing of used material, and replacing the filter only with appropriate filter material.
- The efficiency of any filter is dependent on the filter material used. Individual users need to consult the applicable filter manufacturer specifically for use suggestions.
- We may, from time to time, update the Maker Mask website with information regarding appropriate filter materials that are appropriate, supply chain announcements, and/or suggestions. A commonly available material is HEPA-level vacuum bags cut to fit the Maker Mask filter system.
- It is important to have a tight, comfortable fit for any respirator-style mask like the Maker Mask. For best fit guidance, please visit https://www.cdc.gov/niosh/npptl/hospresptoolkit/fittesting.html
